Cejudo, returning to the Octagon after a three-year absence, was the betting favorite coming into the fight.

Sterling, 33, landed more total strikes over Cejudo, 174-110, with a 110-63 advantage in signature strikes.

Bantamweight challenger Sean O'Malley stepped inside the cage after Sterling's win on Saturday.

Sterling, a native of Long Island, New York, successfully defended the bantamweight championship for a record third time.
